On the way to meet friends and their kids, we stopped at Boscastle Farm shop/cafe with the parents and the dogs.
Boscastle Farm Shop Heroes local producers and the menu has a wide selection of Breakfast, Sandwiches, Pasties, Light Lunches and Afternoon/Anytime Tea.
We had a really nice lunch outside in the sunshine, my only regret is that we didn't have dessert, we were too full! The cakes looked delicious and homemade, so I would recommend for morning coffee and cake as well as lunch.
St Nectans Glen, is a good Cornish secret and I have to say was better than expected.
The main attraction is a 60 foot waterfall created by the river Trevillet carving its way through slate and punching through the original kieve (basin). The water now cascades into a beautiful valley.
Getting to the waterfall is roughly a half an hour walk - with small children.
You can park just off the B3263 across from St Pirans Church - it's marked on google maps. You then cross the road, walk up and to the right past the inscribed Roman pillar on the roadside by St. Piran’s - a former monastery - and on past some houses (this is downhill) before you start the magical journey through St. Nectan’s Glen, along side the river. You then walk up slate steps to get to the visitors center.
You can see the waterfall from the path, however if you want to get 'up close and personal' with the waterfall, you need to pay the entrance fee. I would recommend taking advantage of the offered wellington boots - they very much helped keep our feet dry. The waterfall was beautiful and was a massive hit with the kids.
