Dogs

We’re pleased to welcome dogs to Higher Forda and hope they have as good a holiday in Devon as their humans, however as dog owners ourselves we are aware of the difficulties that sometime arise due to the presence of even the most ‘well behaved’ four legged friend.

As such, we would be grateful if you could follow the below rules during your stay;

  1. Your dog remains in the communal spaces downstairs when inside the house. To clarify this is anywhere downstairs except the downstairs bedroom. There is a child gate at the top of the stairs which is effective at preventing access to the upstairs areas.

  2. Please do not allow your dog on any of the furniture.

  3. You are responsible for keeping your dog within the boundaries of the property. We have taken reasonable steps to make the fence bordering the field and the road dog proof, however, we are aware that if you have a particularly small or particularly athletic dog they could escape. The field is used for grazing livestock and as I’m sure you’re aware farmer’s take an extremely dim view of dogs chasing their animals. We have an excellent relationship with the farmer, and we want to maintain this. If your dog was to cause injury to or death of any livestock you would be responsible for the cost incurred.

  4. We are acutely aware that dogs are capable of producing a seemly impossible amount of poo. We would ask that you are fastidious in collecting any and all deposits in a poo bag and place in one of the metal dustbins by the gate.

  5. There is a hosepipe outside to remove the evidence of muddy walks, and if your dog does have an accident there are cleaning products and a mop in the property.

We hope that these seem like reasonable rules, in addition as with your general usage of the property we would ask that you look after as you would hope someone would look after your house.
